Privacy policy

What Campfyre collects, why it is needed, who can see it, and the choices available to you.

Effective and last updated: 13 October 2026

Who this covers

This policy covers the Campfyre mobile app and getcampfyre.com. Campfyre is currently intended only for adults aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, do not create or use an account; contact us to remove an account created in error.

Data we process

  • Account: email or federated sign-in identifier, display name, username, date of birth, profile photo and bio.
  • Location and plans: device location while the app is in use, map searches, and the location, time, capacity and description of Flares you create or join.
  • Social content: posts, comments, reactions, follows, Tribe membership, messages, photos, reports and moderation records.
  • Technical: device and app version, push token, security logs, diagnostics, analytics and crash information.

How we use it

We use this information to authenticate accounts; show relevant nearby plans; operate joining, chat, Tribes, feeds and notifications; protect users; investigate abuse; maintain the service; and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or use private messages to train general-purpose AI models.

What other people can see

Profile fields, posts, Tribe activity and Flare participation may be visible according to the product surface and your settings. A Flare venue is shared with eligible viewers and attendees. Campfyre does not publish your continuously updated device location as another user’s live location.

Service providers and transfers

Campfyre uses Google Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, data, storage, messaging, analytics and diagnostics; Google Maps for maps and place services; and Apple or Google for sign-in and app distribution. These providers may process information outside India under their applicable safeguards and agreements.

Retention and deletion

We keep account and content data while needed to provide the service, protect users and meet legal obligations. You can start account deletion in the app or use our external deletion instructions. Deletion removes or de-identifies associated account data unless a limited record must be retained for security, dispute, fraud-prevention or legal reasons. How long each kind of data is kept depends on its purpose; where a fixed period applies, such as for Bonfire guest responses below, it is stated on this page.

Bonfire guest responses

A Bonfire is a plan a Campfyre tribe host shares with a link. If you answer one on getcampfyre.com without the app, we collect your name, your answer (yes or no), any crew spot you pick and, when you say yes, your email address. Your email is never used for SMS or marketing.

  • Purpose: letting the host know who is coming, holding your spot, and sending you this Bonfire’s confirmation and updates.
  • Who can see it: only that Bonfire’s host and its tribe’s admins. Other guests and tribe members see a headcount, never your name or email.
  • Retention: your name, email and answer are deleted automatically 30 days after the Bonfire ends. A record that consent was given (its version and your 18+ confirmation, with no contact details) is kept for one year. A one-way hash of your network address, used only to stop abuse, is deleted along with your response.
  • Withdrawal: use “Remove my response” on the confirmation page or in any Bonfire email to delete your response immediately, or email privacy@getcampfyre.com.
  • Age: by answering, you confirm you are 18 or older. Under-18s cannot join through Campfyre.

Your choices

You can change eligible profile and privacy settings, withdraw optional permissions in device settings, mute notifications, block or report users, request access or correction, withdraw consent where applicable, and request deletion. Some features will not work without location or notification access.

Security and incidents

We use access controls, encrypted transport and provider security controls. No online service is completely secure. Report a suspected account or data incident promptly to privacy@getcampfyre.com.
