Flares

How do I create a flare?
Tap the 🔥 button on the map screen. Give your flare a title and emoji, set a time, choose how many people you want, and tap "Light it". Your flare will appear on the map for nearby users instantly.
How do I join someone else's flare?
Tap any fire 🔥 on the map, or browse the list view. Open the flare detail and tap "Join". You'll be added to the group chat immediately.
My flare expired — can I recover it?
Flares auto-expire based on the time you set. Expired flares cannot be recovered — this is intentional. The app is built around the now. Just light a new one!
How do I edit or delete my flare?
Open your flare from the map or your profile, tap the ⋯ menu in the top-right corner, and select "Edit" or "Delete". Only the flare creator can edit or delete it.

Account

How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile → Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account, all your flares, and all associated data. This action cannot be undone.

If you're having trouble finding this, email us at support@campfyre.app and we'll process the deletion manually within 7 days.
Can I change my username or display name?
Yes. Go to Profile → Edit Profile and update your display name. Changes take effect immediately.
How do I sign out?
Go to Profile → Settings → Account → Sign Out.

Safety & Reporting

How do I report a user or a flare?
On any flare or user profile, tap the ⋯ menu and select "Report". Choose a reason and submit. Our team reviews all reports within 24 hours.

How do I block someone?
Tap their profile, tap the ⋯ menu, and select "Block". Blocked users cannot see your flares, message you, or appear in your nearby feed.

Location & Notifications

Why does campfyre need my location?
Location is how campfyre works — it shows you flares happening near you and lets your flare appear on the map for others nearby. We only use your location while the app is open (foreground only — never background). You can revoke location permission in your device Settings at any time.
How do I turn off notifications?
Go to Profile → Settings → Notifications to customise which notifications you receive. You can also turn off all notifications in your device Settings → campfyre → Notifications.

Troubleshooting

The app isn't loading / something looks broken
Try these steps in order:
  1. Close and reopen the app
  2. Check your internet connection
  3. Make sure you're running the latest version (App Store → Updates)
  4. Force-quit the app and reopen
  5. If still broken, email support@campfyre.app with your device model and iOS version
I'm not seeing any flares near me
campfyre is live now — if there are no flares near you, no one has lit one yet! Try lighting your own 🔥 and see who shows up. You can also check "Nearby" distance filter to widen the search radius.
The map isn't showing my location correctly
Make sure location permission is set to "While Using the App" (not "Never"). Check this in Settings → campfyre → Location. If it's already set correctly, try toggling it off and on again.
